Tashi Gomang is a monastery in the Nyingma Buddhist tradition. It is located in Western Tibet, in Golok. Situated at this monastery is the most powerful sacred site in the entire region, called the Natural Buddha Stupa. This Stupa arose naturally due to the prayers of the Dharma Queen Ashoka. Many great lamas revealed texts detailing the story of this Stupa including Dudjom Lingpa, the first incarnation of Dodrubchen Rinpoche (Jigme Trinley Oser), and the previous incarnation of Tartong Garlong Rinpoche (Garlong Dundul Wangchuk Lingpa). Many other natural manifesations have arisen near the monastery. There are many dharma mantras, and deities that arose spontaneously on rocks. Also Guru Rinpoche and Yeshe Tsogyal left their footprints in solid rock nearby. There is a small river close to the monastery that has holy water that can be left in a cup for many months without becoming even slightly dirty.
Each year the Tulkus, Khenpos, Monks, Nuns, and Yogis here perform an extensive monlam ceremony. This ceremony is for world peace and the benefit of all living beings. Tulku Orgyen Zangpo Rinpoche's work is to help his monastaries continue on. These ceremonies rely on sponsorship, and doing so creates immense benefit for all living beings, while at the same time accomplishing merit for oneself.
Every year at Tashi Gomang Monastery during the summer time there is a 50 day retreat. During the fall there is Vajrasattva retreat. During the winter there is the Amitaba and peaceful prayer retreat During the spring there is a retreat that includes Vajrakilaya, Mahakala, Shitro, and Vajra Dancing. Groups of practicioners go through these cycles of retreats for three years at a time. If you have obstacles in your practice or life, or have the name of a dying person, these monks can dedicate their practice to help you.
Tashi Gomang also has several branch monasteries. In Lhasa is Dudul Palchen Monastery, and connected with it are a number of sacred sites. In Utsang Central Tibet is Tod Zawulong, a holy place of Padmasambhava. Also in Utsang is Shamda Palchen Monastery. This was the seat of one master from a group of three important Nyingma masters (So, Zur, and Nub) Zurchen Shakya Jungnay
There are several others such as Lhundrub Choling Monastery, all of which Tulku Orgyen Zangpo Rinpoche has been teaching at. He has taken on full responsibility for caring for these centers.
